One-Line Bio

I'm a two-time software company CEO, three-time entrepreneur, and current advisor to business owners and CEOs; I'm 50ish; I've been married for 30+ years with one adult son; if I had any musical talent I'd be fronting a blues band; if I had any writing talent I wouldn't have to blog to get published.

Biography

I'm in my mid-50's.

I have been married for 35 years (since 1971) to a wonderful woman. She grew up with me (we were both just kids when we got married), she has seen me quite literally through sickness and health, and we're finally maturing together (it ain't growing old, not yet bub). She has been my rock.

I grew up in the midwest (Ohio and Indiana). We relocated in early 2005 to the Nashville, Tennesse area from Newport Beach, CA. We have also lived in Missouri, Illinois (twice), Georgia, and Massachusetts in the U.S. and in the U.K. On average, we moved every 3 years for the first 25 years or so we were married. We're finally slowing down.

We have one adult son who is out there in the world doing something or other.

I am a cancer survivor.

In 2004 I embarked on the second stage of my professional life as a consultant, an advisor to CEOs and business owners, a teacher, and (hopefully) a writer.

During the first stage of my professional life I spent more than 30 years in and around Information Technology and the software industry. I started as a techie doing programming on IBM mainframe computers and DEC minis during the early to mid 1970s. I got into management (welcome to the dark side my young friend) and into the then still very young software industry (circa 1978). I've been a company co-founder, I've run product development (several times), I've run marketing (several times), I've run an international sales and consulting operation while based in Europe, and for the last 10 years or so I was CEO of two companies.

I've had my successes; I've had my failures; I've made mistakes; I've learned a thing or two and continue to do so; I've met and had the chance to work with some great, great people; I've made a few good friends; and I continue to get up every day ready to do it some more.
